DECEMBER 18-PERSON OF THE DAY-STEVEN SPIELBERG

"The delicate balance of mentoring someone is not creating them in your own image, but giving them the opportunity to create themselves."
                                                                                -Spielberg

To be frank.. We were actually in a dilemma..! Whom should we select as the person of the day!!
Brad Pitt, Spielberg or Stalin!! Finally we decided.. Being an admirer of Spielberg movies, we thought he would be the perfect choice. He is undoubtedly the most influential film personality in the world. He is one of the wealthiest film makers of the world. He has been with us for 4 decades and has covered almost all the genres.

He was born on December 18,1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio to an orthodox Jewish family(we could see that in his movie Schindler's List). He grew up by making amateur 8mm films.  In 1963,at the age of 16,he wrote and directed his first independent movie which was a 140 minutes lonf science fiction movie named Firelight. Later he made several super hit movies which was loved by both young and old.

I do not think it would be a good idea to list out his complete work.. I would provide the link below.. But,I do mention my favourite among them like Schindler's List, Jurassic Park series, War of the World, and many more..

ENCYCLOPEDIA BRITANNICA - THE BOOK OF ANY THING AND EVERYTHING

I can say without any doubts that the ENCYCLOPEDIA BRITANNICA is the most popular and the most sold English encyclopedia. Do you know what is special about the Encyclopedia Britannica on December 6 ?  The date is so special because the first Encyclopedia Britannica was published on December 6, 1768.

Now let me tell you some facts about the Britannica. The 2010 edition is the last printed edition of this encyclopedia. Rather than nearly hundred full time writers over 4000 people have contributed which includes 110 Nobel Prize winners and five American presidents. The encyclopedia Britannica is the oldest English encyclopedia still in production. The first encyclopedia was a three volume book later the book expanded and released the fifteenth and last edition as a 32 volume book. The book contains about 40 million words on half a million topics.

The 21 century marked the set back of the Encyclopedia Britannica. The large boom in the development and use of the electronic medias allowed people to get information about anything and everything online rather the using Britannica. But Encyclopedia Britannica will remain in the hearts of  all knowledge seekers.
