PERSON OF THE DAY-FEBRUARY 24-STEVE JOBS

"Design is a funny word. Some people think design means how it looks. But of course, if you dig deeper, it's really how it works."

It was much easier this time to select the person of the day.. Who else other than the most brilliant businessman-cum-engineer deserves to be the one. He revolutionize the way we learn, the way we entertain or even the way we live. Apple was no more a fruit.. 'I pad' and 'I pod' became synonyms of tablets and music players.. 'I phone' became the most trusted mobile phone.. To put it simply, Steve Jobs Apple Inc. remold the world, I would say..

Steve Jobs was born in San Francisco on February 24th of 1955. He was given up for adoption as soon as he was born. Later he was adopted an Armenian American couples(Jobs couples). His non-biological parents were poor which lead Jobs to quit his college education. During his early life he struggled a lot. After continuous tenacious effort he managed to built the very first model of the Macintosh. Everything thing started from a garage. From a garage, started the now most valuable Inc. in the world.

He taught us how to fight for what you love. With his life he set an example for achieving your goal. He taught us to "Stay Hungry and Stay Foolish". Anyone could advice.. But Jobs showed us how to win a match.

His death was a great lost.. People like him was and will always be an inspiration to youth like us..

Happy Birthday WINNER....!!!

May you Rest In Peace..

Kurosawa entered the Japanese film industry in 1936. After years of working on numerous films as an assistant director and scripwriter, he made his debut as a a director in 1943,during World War II with the popular Judo action film Sugata Sanshiro.

After the war, the critically acclaimed Yoidore Tenshi (1948) in which he cast the then known actor Tashiro Mifune in a starring role, cemented the director's reputation as one of the most important young filmmakers in Japan. The two men went on to collaborate on another 15 masterpieces. Rashomon, which also starred Mifune, became the surprise winner of the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and was subsequently released in Europe and North America. The commercial and critical success of this film opened up Western film markets for the first time to the products of the Japanese film industry, which in turn led to international recognition for other Japanese filmmakers. In 1990,  he received the Academy Award for Lifetime Achievement. After his death on 6th September 1998, he was named Asian of the century in the Arts,Literature and Cultural category by Asian Week Magazine. TERRORISM-EVIL INCARNATED

A lot of people die everyday.. But the death of 21 Coptic Egyptian Christians were well talked about.. They were brutally murdered..or were beheaded.. The video was unbearable to any soul with a heart.. Terrorism is one of the gravest problem that the society faces today. It is an issue of global concern. The presence of terrorism can be felt across the globe. It is, today, a much debated issue in all the countries of the world-developing or developed(as if it is something to be debated on!!!! I mean its obvious.. there is chance of forming two sides..)

Terrorism is not a new phenomenon.. The first recorded terrorist attack was the one in USA.. In 1865–1877: 3,000 Freedmen and their Republican Party allies were killed by the Ku Klux Klan and well-organized campaigns of violence by other local whites in a campaign of terrorist violence that weakened the re-constructionist governments in the American South and helped re-establish legitimized segregation. But over years it has undergone changes.. Like any other field.. It has improved in all means.. It has become more lethal, more widespread and more difficult to control. Today, it stand as the most serious challenge before the civil society.

Terrorism has its presence everywhere from Indonesia, Malaysia to Sudan. Somalia, Egypt and Nigeria and Peru. Chile, America to Ireland. Almost everywhere in Central Asia.

Terrorist are the greatest enemies of society because they undermine its stability by creating chaotic conditions leading to mass killing, damage and destruction. Generally, public places like airports, railway stations are their targets, but sometimes they shift their focus to some soft targets like schools, hospitals, trains and buses where security is lax and not vigilant.

Every country has defines terrorism in its own way as per its own suitability. There is no universally accepted definition of terrorism. In fact, terrorism is an unlawful use of violence or threat of violence aiming to inculcate fear among the masses. It is a philosophy of violence which terrorists use to destabilize the economy of a country.

Today they rule the world as Al-Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Boko Haram or in any other hundreds of names left. I feel the nations themselves use to support one or more of these groups in their budding state and finally they reach a situation when that they are out of control. Now it is high time that we, world nations, work together to eliminate terrorism and wipe out them from the earth.

Let us hope for the best..

PERSON OF THE DAY-JAN 20-ZENOBE GRAMME

We thought of introducing this section to give tribute to famous personalities who have changed and are changing the coarse of world and to introduce those who are not known to a majority of our audience. So, today we thought of talking about Zenobe Gramme, a fantastic engineer of past(ourselves being enginnering). It was on this day in 1901,the great man had gone for ever.

Gramme was born at Jehay-Bodegnee on 4 April, 1826. He caught his place in the history through his famous invention The Gramme Machine(also known as Gramme ring, Gramme magneto or Gramme dynamo) which was an electric generator that produces direct current. It was the first generator to produce electricity on a commercial scale for industries.

WHY GO HOMOPHOBIC???

"BEING DIFFERENT IS NOT UNNATURAL"

Homosexual intercourse is a uni-sexual offense under the section 377 of the Indian Penal Code since 1860. Mental, physical emotional and  economic violence against LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans) community in India prevails. In NAZ foundation v. Govt of NCT of Delhi in 2009, the Delhi High Court ruled section 377 and other legal prohibitions against private, adult, consensual and non commercial same-sex conduct to be in direct violation of fundamental rights provided by the Indian Constitution. However, the Supreme Court overturned the judgement on 11 December 2013 and upheld the primary of section 377.

According to the court, even if its consensual and done in private between adults, the 'crime' will attract a maximum punishment of life imprisonment.

The verdict ignites protests all over the country. Many human rights groups expressed worries that this would  render homosexual couples vulnerable to police harassment. They day that the SC's ruling is a disappointing setback to human dignity and the basic right to privacy and non-discrimination.

We have seen that various religious organisations have come forward to protest against the High Court verdict. Homosexuality is considered as a sin by most of the religions. But they fail to show any evidences to support their arguments. They couldn't find it in their religious text..

So my question here is,should we be homophobis? What is wrong in being a homo? Sexual desires differ from person to person.  LGBTs are just different from us. According to studies more than 1500 species shows homosexual behavior. In that case, how on the earth can it be unnatural??!!

Hindu views on homosexuality and in general LDBT issues are diverse and different Hindu groups have different opinions, There are various Hindu text or stories deals homosexuality and is portrayed as natural and acceptable. There are several Hindu temples which have carvings that depict both men and women engaging in homosex. Shikhandi plays an important role in Mahabharata. Hijras, alis etc.. are considered as a good omen by various people in India.

While talking about Christianity the condition is almost similar. Within Christianity there are a variety of views on the issues of sexual orientation and homosexuality. A few interpreters argue that the Bible condemn homosexuality pointing out the story of destruction of Sodom and Gomorroh(two cities believed to be destroyed by god due to homosexual behavior of it's people). But other interpreters however maintain that the bible does not condemn homosex.

Homosexuality is considered as a punishable offense and a sin by Islam. Still, homo erotic themes were depicted in poems and other literature works by famous Muslim poets of medieval period. Homosexuality attracts death penalty in countries life Afghanistan, Brunei, Iran, Mauritanian, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Yemen but is legal in 22 other Muslim majority nations like Albania, Chad, Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan etc..

I feel pity to say that its illegal in my country for two men or women to make love with each other. At the same time, a daughter is murdered in some rural village by her own parents for being with a man of other cast.

I feel pity to say that an Indian citizen is not free to chose his/her life partner.

I feel pity to say that the the judiciary or the administrative departments or the so called RULING SECTION has not taken any decision in regard with the safety and security of our gay brothers and lesbian sisters.

I would like to conclude this by pointing out my argument in this issue. I personally support homosexuality. First of all,I do think that a person has the right to chose with whom he should live. The Govt. or the police or the Judiciary should not be putting there head in to all those private stuffs.
Secondly,I believe homosexuality is necessary for the survival of human race. Because.. What do you think is the most challenging problem faced by us?? Poverty?? Terrorism?? Pollution?? I agree that all these are problems and definitely serious ones.. but the main villian is not any one of these.. Its OVER POPULATION. I believe Over population is the root cause of all the other problems..

When Europe was hit by the Black Death, almost 1/3rd of the population was gone. This was followed by renaissance. Yes.. There was food for everyone.. Shelter for all.. What happened? The population was checked.. I believe such a solution should be made.. And I believe homosexuality is one of the best. As Homo partners cannot reproduce.. A fraction of the total population go sterile.. Ultimately, the population can be controlled..

Nature has always found a solution for all the problems it face. Homosexuality was such a solution put forth by the mother nature herself so as to keep the population under controlled. So,homosexuality is not unnatural.. Its perhaps the best among natural ones...

So.. Guys.. They too are humans.. Accept them... They are our brothers and sisters...

Take care..

MOVIE OF THE WEEK- PULP FICTION

This can be the first one to try a non-linear story line... and it was a great success.. Otherwise it would not have been accepted by a lot of fans...

MOVIE: PULP FICTION
YEAR: 1994
LANGUAGE: ENGLISH
DIRECTOR: QUENTIN TARANTINO
CAST: JOHN TRAVOLTA, UMA THURMAN, SAMUEL L JACKSON, BRUCE WILLIS

Its an American black comedy crime film which is known for his eclectic dialogues, ironic mixture of humor and violence and non linear storyline. the screen play makes the movie unique. The non linear storyline was something new back in 1990s.. It was the first movie of that kind..

In addition to a crazy and brilliant screenplay, casting too was great.. every single one played their role in style.. they did their job well.. Dialpgue delivery of samuel jackson was indeed GREAT.. I dare you.. I double dare you.. you will like it..

This is definitely a movie worth watching..
My rating: 8.7/10

DECEMBER 21-PERSON OF THE DAY-SAMUEL L JACKSON

''If my answers frighten you, then you should cease asking scary questions''
                                                                                                                       -Pulp Fiction
Surely, for those who have seen the Pulp fiction, this dialogue is unforgettable. I have no choice but to write about Samuel Leroy Jackson, one of the few respected actor and film producer of United States.
Samuel. L Jackson was born on 21 December 1948 at Washington DC .He married LaTanya Richardson and is father of a girl, Zoe. Though aged 69, he doesnt restrict his potential in acting alone but also as a prominent Civil Rights activist of U.S . As an actor,he has won a BAFTA award, a Black Reel award and four NAACP Image awards.
I am not interested in showing all his works, you could find them in the links provided at the bottom, but would like to mention some of my favorites.Undoubtedly, the best , The Pulp Fiction, followed by his role in Iron Man 2, Django Unchained, Marvel's The Avengers, Captain america ..........

DECEMBER 19-PERSON OF THE DAY-RICKY PONTING

Probably the best captain I have ever seen..

Australian cricket team was always one of my favourite team, just after India.. It was because of the attitude they show towards the game. Each and every team member would be totally involved and it was like..an 'elixir of life' to them.. Whether its Gilchrist, Hayden, Lee, Warne, MagGrath or Ponting... Everyone was awesome.. But, it was always Ponting, the captain of the ship, controlling the game.. During its Golden era,the team would have a fielder everywhere the ball goes.. It was due to the pure talent and experience of this great cricketer. He is a right handed batsman and widely considered one among the best one after Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara..

Ricky Thomas Ponting was born on December 19,1974 Launceston, Tasmania. He made his first-class debut for Tansmania in november 1992. His one-day International debut was in 1995
against the all time rivals, South Africa. He did his test debut in the same year against Sri Lanka in which he scored 96 runs. He lost his place in the team frequently due to lack of form and discipline before he became the ODI captain in the early 2002 and Test captain in 2004. He is Ausis's top scorer till now and one among the four (Sachin, Dravid, Kallis, Ponting) in the world to score 13000 runs in test.

As I have already told, he can be considered as one of the most successful captain with 44 test wins in 78 matches. As a player, he is the only person to be involved in 100 Test victories and 262 ODI wins. He had also captained 2 consecutive Worl Cup victories of 2003 and 2007 out of Ausis's hat-trick(1999, 2003 & 2007) and was a player in the 1999 world cup under Steve Waugh's captaincy.

Everyone of you does know him..as a cricketer.. But he has another role to play.. A role to save thousands of lives from the evil cancer. Yes.. He with his wife Rianna has set up Ponting Foundation to do everything possible to help young Australians and their families to beat cancer. It provide financial and emotional support to families suffering from the difficulties of cancer.

So.. Let us all wish this great cricketer, or, more than that, a great human being, a HAPPY BIRTHDAY,,

Take care friends..

DECEMBER 16-PERSON OF THE DAY-JANE AUSTEN

"Happiness in marriage is entirely a matter of chance."

Her works mainly highlights the dependence of women on marriage to secure social standings and economic security. From her works, we could clearly conclude that she was a feminist. Her heroines were special and the novels were mainly from the perspective of the heroine.

Jane Austen, the famous English writer or novelist was born on December 16, 1775. She mainly wrote romantic fiction and had a firm place as one of the most widely read English novelist.  Her realism, biting irony and social commentary as well as her acclaimed plots have gained her historical importance among scholars and critics.

As a child she used to read a lot. Her family's support played an important role in her journey. Her parents, George Austen and Cassandra were members of substantial gentry family. Austen was born on 16 December 1775 at Steventon rectory and publicly christened on 5 April 1776. Though she and her sister were sent for education, both were called back as they had no money to teach them. Jane acquired the remainder of her education through reading books, guided by her father and brothers. She had six brothers. Her family was quite big.

Austen started writing small poems and stories by 1787. She had collected them and had bound into a notebook which is now known as Juvenilia, containing pieces originally written between 1787 and 1793. Its believed that she had written her full length novel by 1790.

Its for damn sure that Jane's works had clearly helped English language in its journey to become what it is now. School curriculum include Jane's novels to make students understand the then prevailing trend, style of writing and language.

Her famous works include..

MOVIE OF THE WEEK- MILLION DOLLAR BABY

"THE BEST WAY TO DIE- CLINT EASTWOOD SHOOTING WHILE MORGAN FREEMAN NARRATES IT"
                                                                                               -some random guy
Well.. Well.. Here you have both of them.. Freeman narrates it.. But Eastwood is not the 'sharp shooter' as he was in the Good, the Bad and the Ugly.. He fight.. Yeah.. He is a veteran boxing trainer..

The leading roles, Frankie Dunn, Maggie Fitzgerald are done by Clint Eastwood and Hilary Swank respectively. Morgan Freeman has done the role of Eddie Dupris, Frankie's friend and faithful employee. The story is narrated ny Freeman.. That itself shows how brilliant it would be.. Something told by Freeman can never be bad.. Right??

Million Dollar Baby,2004 is an american sports drama film directed by Clint Eastwood. The film portraits a training gym run by Frankie and his employee Eddie. The gym was not doing good. Added to that his fighter, who was groomed by him to a world class status has payed him back by signing an agreement with another manager. Frankie has devoted his life to the ring and training. It was at that time,a lady Maggie Fitzgerald came to Frankie and asked if he could train him. Frankie was not interested in training women and he didnt accept her request. But, later Frankie had to due to her determination and love.. The rest of the movie deals with the personnel relationship between the trainer and the trainee.

The 4 Academy Award winning movie is thoughtful, unfashionable, honest, simple and shows us that life can really fuck you at times.. "You plan everything.. Everything goes according to your plan and here you have a happy ending" Life doesnt work that way.. It has alwasy gor other plans..and it stick ti its...

The movie had won 4 Oscars;

DECEMBER 14-PERSON OF THE DAY-RAJ KAPOOR

Whom else should we select as the person of the day?? Even google celebrates his birthday by making him the google doodle. Mere words cannot express how much he had given to the Indian Cinema. His works played of the most important role in framing our cinema world.

Ranbir Raj Kapoor, the famous Indian film actor, director and producer was born on December 14 1924 at Peshawar, (modern Pakistan). So basically, he a Pakistani-Indian actor. He was born as the eldest among the 6 children of Prithviraj Kapoor and Ramsarni Devi Kapoor,as a part of the great Kapoor family. His brothers too were actors.

His debut film was Inquilab, 1935. But his break came through the leading role in the movie Neel Kamal, 1947.

Raj Kapoor is appreciated both by film critics and movie fans. Film historians and movie buffs speak of him as the "Charlie Chaplin of Indian cinema," since he often portrayed a tramp-like figure, who, despite adversity, was still cheerful and honest. His fame spread worldwide. He was adored by audiences in large parts of Africa, the Middle East, the former Soviet Union, China, and Southeast Asia; his movies were global commercial successes. Raj had the knack of getting the best out of any one, since he had mastered all departments of film making and even marketing them.[peacock term] When Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru died in 1964 coinciding with release of Sangam, he took the opportunity to create a scene when Gopal ashes were immersed in Ganges, like Pandit Nehru described in his poetic will. His films reflected the Era in which it was made.

He had a great understanding of the public taste and a great sense of Box-Office. He was one of the pioneers of the Indian cinema, who talked about the potential of Hindi cinema emerging as a great revenue earner from the world market in fifties, which has become a reality today.

On this day.. We the crew of Hotdogs.. Wish him a Happy Birthday..

take care..

DECEMBER 8 -PERSON OF THE DAY -ELZIE CRISLER SEGAR

"I am what I am,
and that's all that
I am"
                                               -Popeye,the sailor
We often do not realize that the pleasure we enjoy is created by the sweat and hardship of many others. We often fail to respect the person  who deserve it.
Today is the birthday of Elzie Crisler Segar. You may wonder who this is?? But, I say most of you know him virtually.

Elzie Crisler Segar, known professionally as E. C. Segar, was an American cartoonist, best known as the creator of Popeye, a pop culture character who first appeared in 1929 in Segar's comic strip Thimble Theater. Yes.. He is the father of Popeye, one of our favourite cartoon character.. Who does not love his mighty muscular body and the pipe(through with he occasionally take spinach too)..?? He took a correspondence course in cartooning from W. L. Evans of Cleveland, Ohio and was introduce at Chicago Herald. On March 12, 1916 they published his first cartoon, Charlie Chaplin's Comedy Capers.

Evening American Managing editor William Curley thought Segar could succeed in New York, so he sent him to King Features Syndicate, where Segar worked for many years. He began by drawing Thimble Theatre for the New York Journal. The strip made its debut on December 19, 1919, featuring the characters Olive Oyl, Castor Oyl and Horace Hamgravy, whose name was quickly shortened in the strip to simply "Ham Gravy". They were the strip's leads for about a decade. On January 17, 1929, when Castor Oyl needed a mariner to navigate his ship to Dice Island, Castor picked up an old salt down by the docks named Popeye. Popeye's first line in the strip, upon being asked if he was a sailor, was "'Ja think I'm a cowboy?" The character stole the show and became the permanent star. Some of the other notable characters Segar created include J. Wellington Wimpy and Eugene the Jeep.

Its strange that the creators are not known sometimes..but the characters live. They are immortal...

Take care..

DECEMBER 7-PERSON OF THE DAY-CHARLES RAY HATCHER

This would be the last person you thought of being the person of the day. We don't mean to honor him by doing so.. We just thought of sharing and making you guys aware that such a man had walked over the earth and today is his 30th death anniversary.

After all, being notorious or infamous is just another way of becoming famous. Its just 'becoming famous' gone bad, right??

Charles Ray Hatcher,or I don't know which name i should use asa he had used a dozen names in his lifetime, was a serial killer who had confessed almost 16 murders. He was born on july 16,1929 in Mount city,USA. His childhood was a total waste. He was youngest of the 4 children of his parents. His father was an Ex-convict and a alcoholic addict. He left home and divorced his wife.

He had shown signs of mental trauma at a very young age, when he stand still watching his brother dying from an electric shock while they were flying kites. His mother remarried almost 3 times. And he lived with his mum and third father. His criminal life was kick started by auto thefts and he was arrested and jailed several times.. He attempted to escape almost every time, and had succeeded quite a couple or more times.. He was arrested for auto thefts, burglary, and many more..

His carrer in murder started when his first victim, Jerry Tharrington, who was his inmate, was found raped and kill on July 2, 1961. It was almost clear that Charlie did it,but they lack solid evidences and he was sent to solitary confinement. While in solitary confinement he wrote a letter claiming that he needed psychiatric assistants. But he was not (who knows,he would have changed if he was given a chance).

He continue indulging in criminal practices. Most of his murder victims were boys of the age 6-14. All were raped before death (Holy shit.. We have a faggot here!!). He mostly strangle or stab people into death.

When he was arrested for the last time in 1983. He requestedfor a death sentence but he was senteced for a life imprisonment. But,4 days later,he hanged himself to death.

KISS OF LOVE- A UNIQUE WAY TO PROTEST

"If Princess Charming happened in Kerala, the prince would just stay a frog, because moral police would not let the princess to kiss them"

No matter how free we are.. There are certain 'pointless' social norms in our society. Its strange to see a couple kissing each other in public. But, why does the society bother??? What makes them so frustrated???The one who kiss does not bother.. The one who is being kissed too does not care.. Its the mentality of this fucked-up society that matters...They are the one who create problems..

Against Moral policing.. A group from Kerala organised a unique kind or protest popularly known as the "KISS OF LOVE" on November 2nd,2014 at Marine Drive,Kochi. Various activists, political parties, students organisation, came opposing the protest and the program went chaotic.. What planned was a peaceful march from Eranakulam Law College but the so called 'moral polices' was so crazy that the peaceful march went all wrong..  The state police really did a good job by arresting the kiss of love supported who were actually the victims of the violence...
But, the act had some effect.. It went viral all over the world through social networks and medias and similar protests were held the same day at different parts of the country..
The topic was discussed all over the globe. It received support from a huge number of people.. There were haters too.. Who actually had no point in arguing.. There arguments were core less.

As a continuation of the first attempt to change the attitude of this society, the Kiss of Love coordinators plan to organize the second version of their protest against moral policing on December 7, 2014 at Calicut streets. The event is known as KISS IN THE STREETS and will be held around 3 PM, today. 1000 participants are expected today.

"It will be the same mode of protest", Rahul(the founder of KISS OF LOVE) said. "However, this time, no prior permission is being sought from the police," he added. There are plans to hold similar protests in two or three other places in Kozhikode on Sunday, but the venues have not been decided, he said. Those participating in the protest include a theatre group from Chennai.

"Support kiss of love.... Kiss is a sign of love and not lust.. And spread love cause its all we have in this fucked up world of ours"

Take care friends..
